Starting weight = 220.4 lbs.
Ending weight = 219.4 lbs.
It was a reasonable LCHF week for me. I lost a pound, even though my average daily calorie count was higher than the previous week when I gained a pound. My average daily calories weren’t just slightly higher, either. The numbers were 1,805 vs. 1,673 — or +132 (8%) per day.
My activity level didn’t change. So much for calories in / calories out (at least for this guy and this week).
(I admit my activity level needs to increase, but not because it will help me lose weight. It will improve my general health and well-being.)
Of course, other numbers improved. My percentage of calories from fat went up (from 66% to 70%), and my net-carbs per day dropped (from 44 grams to 41 grams). My protein intake also moderated, dropping from 90 grams to 85 grams per day. Those are the numbers that matter.
The readings from my Ketonix 2015 Breath Ketone Analyzer reflected a gradual (though not straight line) increase in ketones throughout the week. However, the readings remain lower than before I experimented with increasing my carb intake.
So, on average this past week, I ate lower-carb and higher-fat than the week before, and I lost a pound as opposed to gaining a pound. I wouldn’t say this small slice of my life proves anything, but it’s nice when theory and experience match up.
